The Challenge
The old website for Fit For Life did not effectively communicate the gym’s services or encourage new memberships. It lacked mobile optimisation, had poor navigation, and failed to highlight key features such as class schedules and membership options.
The Solution
We built a modern, fully responsive WordPress website with a user-friendly layout and clear calls to action. The design showcases the gym’s facilities, classes, and trainers while implementing SEO best practices to boost visibility in local search results and drive new member sign-ups.
Questions About Cleaning Up an Existing Website
Can you improve an existing website without redesigning everything?
Yes. Not every website needs a full redesign. For Fit for Life & Club Energy Omagh, the existing design direction still had value, so the goal was to clean it up, tighten the layout, improve performance and remove anything that was no longer needed.
Can mentoring help identify what a website really needs?
Yes. Our work with Fit for Life & Club Energy Omagh began through the Go Succeed mentoring programme. This helped create a clearer plan for the website, including what needed improved, what could stay, and what should be removed.
Can you fix a slow website?
Yes. One of the issues with the old website was poor performance, partly caused by a very large looping video file. We cleaned up the site and improved the setup so it could load and perform better for users.
Should unused eCommerce features be removed?
Yes. If a business no longer sells online, keeping WooCommerce or similar eCommerce features can add unnecessary complexity. For this project, WooCommerce was removed because the client no longer wanted to sell merchandise through the website.
Is simplifying a website sometimes better than adding more features?
Yes. A good website should match the current needs of the business. For Fit for Life & Club Energy Omagh, simplifying the website made more sense than adding more features, because the priority was performance, clarity and a cleaner user experience.
