Before the Redesign

Before the new website was developed, Foymore Lodge was working with an older site that no longer reflected the quality of the business or supported its growing operational needs. While it provided a basic online presence, it lacked the modern structure, functionality and user journey needed for memberships, regulated product sales and a more streamlined customer experience.

The Challenge

Foymore Lodge needed a secure and compliant digital platform that could support its dual shooting clubs under PSNI regulations. The existing setup made managing memberships and sales time-consuming, with no automated system for renewals or payments. The website also required a clean, functional homepage that would guide users directly to the right section while maintaining a professional appearance.

The Solution

We developed a fully compliant WordPress and WooCommerce website featuring two separate membership systems with automated recurring payments. The site includes a streamlined eCommerce shop, SEO optimisation, and a minimalist homepage with three clear navigation paths. This solution not only met PSNI standards but also improved efficiency and user experience across all areas of the business.

Questions About Building a Similar Membership Website

Can you build a similar membership website for another club or organisation?

Yes. This type of setup can work well for sports clubs, associations, membership organisations, training providers and businesses that need recurring payments, member renewals or online applications. The exact setup depends on how your memberships work, whether you need separate member groups, and how much automation you want built into the website.

For this project, WooCommerce was a strong fit because the client needed membership functionality, recurring payments and an online shop within one WordPress website. It also gave the client flexibility to manage products, memberships and website content from the same platform.

Shopify was not the right fit because the project involved regulated products and membership requirements that needed more control than a standard hosted eCommerce platform could offer. With regulated goods, platform policies, payment processing and compliance requirements all need to be considered before choosing the right system.
BigCommerce could have been considered for the eCommerce side, especially where regulated products are involved. However, WooCommerce was the better fit for this project because it allowed the online shop, recurring memberships, club-specific content and wider WordPress website to work together in one flexible system.

Yes. For websites involving regulated products, payment gateway choice needs to be handled carefully because not every provider will support every type of product. For Foymore Lodge, we worked with SmartPay NI in Derry, who helped arrange a suitable Trust Payments setup for the website.

I’d include this FAQ. It makes the case study much more useful because it shows you understood one of the biggest practical barriers in the project, not just the design/build side.
