Mega Golf

We redesigned Mega Golf’s WooCommerce website to improve usability, structure, and eCommerce performance. As the business expanded and the product catalogue grew significantly, the project evolved into a full migration to Shopify to support better scalability and long-term growth.

The Challenge

Mega Golf’s previous website struggled to meet modern eCommerce expectations. It lacked a clear structure, cohesive branding, and intuitive navigation, which made it difficult for customers to browse or complete purchases. The outdated design and limited functionality also prevented the business from effectively showcasing its wide range of second-hand golf clubs and accessories. As the product catalogue expanded and traffic increased, the WooCommerce infrastructure began requiring higher hosting resources. Scaling the platform on WP Engine would have significantly increased operational costs, making it less sustainable long-term.

Phase 1: WooCommerce Redesign

We redesigned the WooCommerce website with a focus on usability, visual consistency, and performance. The new site features clear product categorisation, intuitive navigation, and mobile-friendly design to enhance the shopping experience. We also implemented targeted eCommerce SEO across key pages, helping Mega Golf improve visibility, attract more customers, and showcase its range of second-hand golf clubs more effectively.

Phase 2: Shopify Migration for Scalability

As the business continued to grow, we migrated the store to Shopify to provide a more scalable eCommerce infrastructure. This involved migrating product data, preserving SEO-critical URLs through redirects, and rebuilding the storefront design to maintain the improved user experience while reducing infrastructure complexity.

From WooCommerce Growth to Shopify Scalability

Why did Mega Golf move from WooCommerce to Shopify?

The WooCommerce redesign worked well and helped the business grow, but over time the store needed a platform that was easier to manage at scale. As the product catalogue expanded, Shopify became the better long-term option because it reduced website maintenance demands and allowed the client to focus more on running the shop.

No. WooCommerce was the right choice for the stage the business was at when the redesign was completed. It gave Mega Golf a stronger online store, better structure and improved SEO performance. The move to Shopify came later, when the business had grown and needed a more scalable setup.

After the Shopify migration, the client found that he was spending less time maintaining the website and more time focusing on the shop itself. The new setup made day-to-day store management more straightforward while still supporting product browsing, sales and ongoing improvements.

Yes. Our support did not stop after the Shopify migration. We continue to help Mega Golf with website support, updates and improvements, just as we did during the WooCommerce stage of the project.

Yes. Platform choice should depend on the stage of the business, product catalogue size, maintenance demands, budget and long-term goals. In Mega Golf’s case, WooCommerce helped the store grow, but Shopify became the better fit once the business needed a simpler and more scalable way to manage the shop.

Verified Clutch.co Feedback

“Branislav done a fantastic job on our new website! No task was too big and his patience was incredible throughout the process. As well as making the changes to our website, he talked me through the process each time so I would have an understanding of it. I am beyond happy with the final design and I can’t recommend him enough!”
